Developers should learn about NetBEUI primarily for historical context or when maintaining legacy systems, as it was widely used in Windows 95/98 and NT networks before being superseded by TCP/IP. It is relevant in scenarios involving older network infrastructure, such as troubleshooting connectivity in vintage computing setups or understanding the evolution of networking protocols.
