Skeuomorphic Design

Skeuomorphic design is a user interface (UI) design approach that mimics real-world objects and materials to make digital interfaces more intuitive and familiar. It uses visual cues like textures, shadows, and 3D effects to resemble physical counterparts, such as a notebook app looking like a paper notebook or a calculator app resembling a physical calculator. This style was particularly dominant in early digital interfaces to help users transition from physical to digital environments.
